Shades of Brown book club was founded by two women new to the Denver area. The book club is open to African American sistahs who not only enjoy and appreciate Black literature, but also understand its value and importance to our Community. As a Black woman living in Boulder for 5 1/2 years, I have become accustomed to being the 'only one,' meaning the only Black person, in most social situations.
